MY STORY
Veterinarian, Master of Science & positive training advocate...
My life before becoming a veterinarian was a windy road. I wanted to be a veterinarian in grade 6, but I was afraid of having to put animals down. I explored other career ideas, and still came back to working with animals, including working as a zoo keeper. You can read more on my journey towards veterinary school in my blog (Before Dr. Serena).

I am a proud alumni of the Western College of Veterinary Medicine (WCVM) having graduated with distinction from my Doctor of Veterinary Medicine program in 2016. While pursuing my DVM, I concurrently worked on a Master of Science degree in Veterinary Biomedical Science completing that in 2017.
In 2017, I moved to Ontario and started working in small animal general practice.
I have always wanted to specialize, and it is still my intent. However, I think that every veterinarian should have a taste of general practice, since this is where greater than 70% of veterinary students wish to thrive. I am currently working in an emergency service within a general and specialty practice in BC.

I started this blog as a place to write my thoughts, as a way to help with the anxiety and stress of my job and even life itself.

These are my stories, and I encourage you to share yours.

Kind Regards,
Dr. Serena
